Itinerary

  1. Day 0

Meet-up, pack organization, gear and equipment check, and a group briefing with all participants and guides.

  2. Day 1
Pampa Linda to Lomas del Huenchupan

We set out from the foot of Tronador (Pampa Linda) with the goal of crossing into Chile. This is the day with the most elevation gain of the expedition, and we'll have horses to help us reach Lomas del Huenchupan, a spot with a unique view of Tronador and a bivouac built by the De La Cruz family. From this day on, we'll be on Chilean soil.

  3. Day 2
Lomas del Huenchupan to Termas de La Junta

On our second day of the expedition, with our packs loaded, we head to a dreamy place, "Las termas de Leti," where the Río Blanco meets the Río Esperanza, creating a spot among trees, ferns and hot springs. Yes, you read that right!! Natural hot springs with a jungle backdrop on the banks of a crystal-clear river.

  4. Day 3
Our rest day in the oasis of our double crossing of the Andes
  5. Day 4
From the Hot Springs to Lago Todos los Santos (Packraft)

We'll hike about 4 hours to the confluence of the Blanco and Vuriloche rivers. From here begins one of the most challenging days of the expedition: with our boats and packs, we'll descend the Río Blanco. A few kilometers before the river mouth, we'll camp in a unique spot. Definitely the most adventurous day of the whole expedition, with paddling and trekking, so we're sure to have plenty of fun.

  6. Day 5
Crossing Lago Todos los Santos (Packraft / Boat)

We'll get up and break camp. We'll paddle to the river mouth on the lake, then continue to a small port on the shore where we'll leave our packrafts. We'll meet René, who will take us across to his home on the other side of Lago Todos Los Santos. He and his partner Yannet will welcome us with delicious food and wonderful hospitality. We'll have dinner and sleep at a local family's home.

  7. Day 6
The Sanchez Family Home to Peulla and Paso de las Nubes (Refugio Rocca)

We leave Chile, our last day in the land of volcanoes and Valdivian rainforest. We take the boat to Peulla and from there a bus to Puerto Frías (27km), where we drop off most of the weight from our packs (tents, cooking set, packrafts, etc.), which returns to Bariloche by water. Meanwhile, we'll pick up the trail to Paso de las Nubes to reach Refugio Rocca, where a tasty dinner awaits us and we'll spend the night in the hut.

  8. Day 7
Paso de las Nubes to Pampa Linda

On the last day of our expedition, after breakfast and some relaxing on the hut's deck, we begin the descent to Pampa Linda. End of services Estimated arrival time in Bariloche: 7:00 PM

What to bring

  • We will spend 2 nights in huts; the rest will be in camp.
