Frequently Asked Questions

Food in the mountains

We recommend bringing snacks of your choice to supplement your days in the mountains, along with treats you really enjoy. Eating well is key to keeping your strength up in the mountains. And to combat loss of appetite, it's best to have a variety of foods to choose from, from sweet to sour to salty.

Overnight stays during the traverse

Refugio Frey and Refugio Jakob offer full services. Dinner and breakfast are included in the package. Both huts have USB charging stations for your smartphone, restrooms, and other amenities.

Travel insurance and rescue insurance

We require you to purchase insurance coverage to protect yourself from the unexpected. Check with your insurance company for any specific questions about coverage and policy details, and if you have any questions, contact us.

Can I rent equipment?

Yes: skis/skins/bindings, splitboard, and safety kit (shovel, beacon, and probe). Ask us for prices and availability. On the last day, when descending from Jakob, depending on snow conditions you may need to walk with your skis on your pack. For this trip, we recommend a comfortable pack that can carry your skis or splitboard. You'll also need good footwear for the approach to the snow and the descent from the hut. Ask us for prices and availability.
