Cerro López | Climbing with Views of Nahuel Huapi

Cerro López is one of the most appealing settings for rock climbing in Bariloche. Its big gneiss walls, slabs, cracks, and multi-pitch routes offer a unique mountain experience, with panoramic views of Lake Nahuel Huapi and the peaks of the National Park.

After a hike-in approach, we reach different climbing areas where we can choose routes according to the group's level and goals.

Climbing at Cerro López is mainly characterized by multi-pitch routes on slabs and cracks, in a traditional climbing style. It is an ideal place for those looking for a first multi-pitch climbing experience in Patagonia, as well as for experienced climbers who want to enjoy classic routes in a spectacular setting.

Refugio Frey | Climbing the Granite Spires

Refugio Frey is one of the most iconic climbing destinations in Patagonia. Located in the heart of Nahuel Huapi National Park, it is surrounded by granite spires and walls that offer hundreds of climbing routes of different styles and difficulties.

The approach from Cerro Catedral takes us through forests, mountains, and high-altitude landscapes to the hut and Laguna Toncek.

From there, we can reach different climbing areas, with routes that follow slabs, cracks, and granite walls of excellent quality.

Frey is an ideal place to discover multi-pitch climbing, improve your technique, and enjoy the experience of climbing in a mountain environment.

The possibilities range from relatively accessible routes for those getting started in multi-pitch climbing to longer, more technical itineraries for experienced climbers.

The experience can be done as one long day or combined with a stay at the hut to enjoy more time in the mountains and explore different routes.
