Copahue Backcountry & Avalanche Camp – Hut Based

  • BRC01666

Copahue Backcountry & Avalanche Camp – Hut Based was created to develop this discipline through real, hands-on experience. Over four days, you’ll live in the mountains, continuously combine theory and practice, and build concrete tools to move with greater safety and better judgment in the backcountry.

The methodology blends a prior virtual classroom, on-site theory sessions, and daily field outings—maximizing time on snow and the quality of learning. Each day follows a progressive process: learn, apply, and analyze.

The hut-based format adds something key: more time in the mountains, better decision-making, and better riding. Full comfort in the mountains, with accommodation and special meals prepared by our chef.

This camp is designed for skiers and snowboarders with off-piste experience who want to take it a step further. Familiarity with touring equipment (skins, transitions) and a solid level in off-piste riding are required.

Share the experience with other riders, learn in real terrain, and take away tools that will change how you move in the mountains.

Expected outcomes by the end of the camp:

✅ Understand the fundamentals of avalanche formation and dynamics
✅ Identify avalanche-prone terrain and assess exposure
✅ Apply practical decision-making tools
✅ Conduct basic snowpack assessments
✅ Interpret avalanche forecasts and weather conditions
✅ Apply rescue protocols with beacon, shovel, and probe
✅ Recognize signs of instability in real terrain
✅ Plan and execute safer tours
✅ Manage risk in a group setting
✅ Integrate learning into real backcountry situations
