Food in the mountains
We recommend packing your snacks of choice for those long days in the mountains. Same goes for your favorite beverages. Eating well is key for keeping your strength up out in the wild. And to cope with the loss of appetite, the best you can have is a wide variety of food at your disposal, from sweet to sour and salty. Carrying at least 2 liters if water is essential.  This experience does not include any food.

Accommodation during the trip
At Piltriquitorn every service is guaranteed. You can buy your dinner and breakfast. At the hut you will have phone signal. There are no restrooms, we have a letrine in the forest!

Book your trip!

Day 1: We leave from Bariloche towards El Bolsón. We are going on a trip to the south. We climbed the last section in a 4×4, to the base of Cerro Piltriquitron. In one hour we reached the refuge by foot. We left the heavy backpack and we have three days left to enjoy our beautiful “classroom” in the Andean region.

The first day will be dedicated to learning rescue techniques and practicing near the shelter.

Day 2: What’s better than waking up in this place and having the whole day to enjoy! During breakfast we discussed the AM of the day. We analyze avalanche problems and propose their management.

Depending on the conditions of the mountain, we will propose itineraries on Cerro Huemul or Piltriquitron.

The day will focus on how to gather quality information on our outings and how to handle ourselves safely as a group.

In the afternoon, with math in between, we will analyze the PM of the day. Readjusting based on our observations and planning the next day.

Day 3: We prepare for the last day. Morning discussion and we went out into the field. Today is a day to ski and clear up doubts. After noon we return to the refuge, go down to our vehicle and return to Bariloche. End of the experience.
